About us.

a little insight into our history.

I don't know if anyone is interested or if I should even write this, but well, because writing is kind of the point of this site ... here is the little background story, how the page came into being and how writing a diary has changed my life in a completely positive way.

My original background is in IT security and I used to have a company in that field. My job was to break into the computers of computers of banks and the like and look for vulnerabilities. As you can probably imagine ... a job like that makes you a little paranoid about about the desire for data protection, security and privacy ;)

After I exited the company, I travelled for a while and experienced a number of great things ;) And to process all these impressions I started writing a diary...

I wanted to somehow preserve all these beautiful memories for myself, I wanted to, when I was really old someday, I wanted to be able to flip through my diary and not feel like I'd missed something...

Well ... the idea was only so-so, but I've noticed that writing helps me clear my head, too much brooding was always one of my problems. At some point I read an article about how you can become happier by changing your focus. So I wrote not only about my experiences, but also about what I was so grateful for that day. Sometimes just little things Like a great meal ... whereas that tends to be big for me .... usually too big ;) and after a while I noticed how it helped: I focused more on positive things to be grateful for throughout the day, so I could write them down in the evening.

At some point I started to write down my goals once a year ... well and so little by little I added more and more to my diary and it helped me to make my life much more positive :)

Through regular practice, I also got better at writing, expression, phrasing, all that became much easier. English is not my native language, so you might not be able to enjoy this skills ... but i am working on that one as well ;) Writing is just just a matter of practice and if you can write clearly, you can also think clearly and express yourself clearly. At school I was a total failure in German lessons ... and now I voluntarily wrote about 500 words every day.

The next important phase began when I started to write about the things I was learning. Whether it was the stock market, trading, programming, psychology, philosophy, my online business stuff, etc. I just recorded everything I learned ...

I felt that writing also helped me learn better. The moment I try to explain something as simply as possible to someone else I understand it better myself. Especially with complicated topics, it also helped me to have some kind of structure and overview.

Well ... and when I shared these notes on a topic with a few friends, they thought it was quite good :D Someone then asked me, why don't I just make a book out of it? A thought that would never have occurred to me before. But somehow also cool .... having my own book :D Thats definitly more attractive than just beeing an IT nerd i thought ;)

Due to a lot of self-doubt and so on, it took quite a while until my first book came out ... but I did it. With a bit of luck I became a bestseller in my category relatively quickly ... and when something works, it can be wise to to do more of it ;) So almost 20 more books followed under various pseudonyms partly and over 500,000 copies sold.

20 books looking back sounds extremely much, of course, but I didn't really do anything except write 1,000 words every day. That's been about an hour a day at some point. Sometimes more, sometimes less ... and that's been for 7 years.

Ok and this is where it comes full circle ... the whole secret to my "success" was writing every day.... well and that's why this site is also called dailywriter.

And because everything started with the diary for me, this site starts the same way ... with a simple diary function.

Now of course the exciting question is, why not just use OneNote, Evernote, Notion or something?

All these sites store all my thoughts, which I don't want to share with anyone, unencrypted. I have no control over it, who can read what and who can't.

For a long time I only worked with simple text files on an encrypted hard drive, but that was inconvenient. and too often I just didn't write anything ...

Well, and that's exactly the problem this site solves.

Dailywriter.io offers you an easy to use, extremely secure diary, where you can be sure that only you can read your thoughts. The whole thing works in such a way that the data is already encrypted in your browser with an AES256 GCM algorithm and your password. I'll explain all this in more detail elsewhere, but in principle this is currently the most secure thing you can use.

Yes, and the end of the story is right in front of you. My perfect diary app for me :) Feel free to try it out, if you have ideas for further functions, feel free to write me and maybe I'll add it :)

best regards, Thomas
